Event and Demo Reports

Herald Night - Good turnout and heraldry was actually done.

Pennsic - Good weather was the headline of the war! On the down side, we
were on the wrong end of the archery competitions by quantity and quality.
Plans to discuss how to improve will being starting at 12th night. We had
lots of people competing in A&S. Our unbelted champions team one that had
included members of our Barony on the team. Cynnabar folks made the Pennsic
Independent paper several times throughout war. The fighting was good and
remarkably cordial. Alexander received a Silver Acorn and Hjorlief received
a Willow. Lots of Baronial awards and recognitions were given out.

Upcoming Baronial Events and Demos

Ale to the Victors (Oct. 26th weekend) - This is the return of the "medieval
tailgate" event hosted by Northwoods with our beloved Cynnabar as their
competition. While we are not hosting, this is a big participation event by
us. So we will put this on our upcoming events list to encourage
participation by all!

Fencing Demo - There will be a fencing demo on Sunday Oct 27th from noon -
3:PM at the Ann Arbor District library. It is a focused fencing only demo.
If interested in helping, please contact our Group Fencing Marshal, Galen.

Grand Tournament (Nov. 16th) - How are things going you might ask? Our
illustrious Event Steward gestures "two thumbs up!". Also adding thrown
weapons to the list of activities.

12th night 2014 (Jan. 4th, 2014) - We have the contract to sign! Event
Steward will get with Seneschal to complete things.

St. Cecilia (May 9th-10th, 2014) - No update.

Old Business

UoM Student group/recruiting - As this will be an ongoing effort, we will
keep this on our meeting discussion agenda for the foreseeable future.

New Business

Event Proposal - Closing the Range (Sunday, Oct. 13th, 2013) - This is the
1st discussion of our 3 meeting discussion/approval process. Proposal is for
spending up to $150 for paying for port-a-potty rental and potluck.

Event Proposal - Terpsichore 20 (March 29th, 2014) - This is the 1st
discussion of our 3 meeting discussion/approval process. Proposal is for
spending up to $750 for paying for site fee and lunch tavern. Break-even
point is 41 people and we normally have over 100 show up. This would be at
the same site (St. Paul's) as previous years. Full budget breakdown
available at meeting for those that want to see details.

Announcements

Lady Arin has been put on vigil for the Order of the Laurel! Hoobah!

Lady Arin's vigil will be at Rose Tourney in Howell, MI on Sept 21st. Please
come and visit!

Archery practice is cancelled until Sept 8th.

Wassail - We should have proposal at next meeting.

Cale - Is looking to start up/revive a medieval student club at Washtenaw
Community College. He has already researched the paperwork needed for the
creating the club as well as being able to hold campus 'events' to help
promote/demo the SCA/medieval club. As this is early on in the process, we
do not need to do anything other than give Kale our support with any help he
needs (such as demos or teaching/talking with students about various aspects
of the SCA). If the club gets off the ground we can then look at if they
want to become an official "College of ." branch within the SCA or if they
just want to be members of Cynnabar with the medieval student club they have
at WCC. That will really be up to the student group at that time. So nothing
else for us to consider at this time other than offering our support and
help when and where needed.

Uillic - Is planning to resurrect the ballista project. The general idea is
to use the winter time to fix things and then spring to train/practice with
in preparation for taking and using it at next year's Pennsic. If interested
in helping, please contact Uillic.

Cale - Would like to see if there is interest in a Cynnabar/SCA outing to
Cedar point on the weekend of Oct 12th. If we are able to get 15 or more
people, we can get a discount on tickets ($37/person) and parking would be
$15/vehicle. We would just need to know a week before hand in order to
get/reserve the discount tickets. And we would not even have to show up all
at the same time at the gate. If interested in going, please contact Kale.

Her Excellency Hannah shot the noodle!

Forrester Grey - Is looking for pine tree chunks for throw weapon targets.
If you know of any possible source, please contact Grey.

Alexander would like to announce he is planning on building a "target robot"
for archery to test people's skill at shooting a moving target.

Genoveva - They have finished building the towers and they held up very well
at Pennsic and looked great.

Practice next Sunday is at 6:PM at Island Park.

Practice the following week the 25th, will be a Revel! Starting at NOON for
practice and food around 4:PM.
