This is just a reminder that tomorrow night Her Excellency and I will
be teaching a class on being a court herald for our courts at Herald's
Night hosted at Simcha and Tristan's home.  We look forward to seeing

Unto the populace of Cynnabar, greetings!

As you know, His Excellency Ermenrich and I are beginning to prepare for
our court at Wassail on December 20. One of our most important duties as
baron and baroness is to recognize individuals in Cynnabar who are doing
great work. However, we can't see or hear everything, so if you know of
someone who deserves an award, we need that information! Please feel free
to email us or tell us in person.

For reference, the list of baronial awards and their descriptions is on the
Cynnabar website <http://cynnabar.org/awards>. And if you're wondering
whether someone already has an award, you can find out by viewing the
baronial Order of Precedence <http://cynnabar.org/oop-byname>, which is
up-to-date as of 11/15/2014.

Another quick note: We plan to send court summons to those whom we wish to
call up in court. For fun, these may use formal or even intimidating
language, so if you receive one, don't worry--you're not in trouble! But
please *do *let us know whether you will be able to attend.

Kasha and I wanted to take this time to thank HL Simcha and Lord
Tristan for hosting another fun heraldry night. Eight people attended
Our workshop on being Our court herald. Not only did it help both
veteran and new heralds, it really helped Kasha and I think about what
We can do to make court a success.

On a related note, if you were unable to attend and would like to talk
to Us about being a herald in an upcoming court, please feel free to
contact Us. I know a few people expressed interest that could not make
it do to timing or illness. Once We have a few names We will see about
scheduling a make up session.

To the Barony of CynnabarDuring the Holiday season Nicola's Books offers local charity groups the opportunity to gift wrap purchases on a volunteer basis.  There is no set charge. Customers donate what they feel the service is worth and they are usually very grateful.  The groups get to keep all donations.  
The SCA qualifies because it is an educational not-for-profit group.
At a recent meeting The Barony of Cynnabar  selected  two days, Saturday, Dec 13 and Sunday, Dec 21,  to volunteer gift wrap at the store.
If you are interested in volunteering please reply to this email.  
Sat, Dec 13-If there are two people who want to take the 10a-12p shift on Saturday, I will let you take my shift.  I plan to be in the store for a while anyway.
Sun, Dec 21-This is my regular schedule, I will be working in the store.  I am unavailable to take a wrap shift, except in an emergency.

Gift WrappingThe table is located in the middle of the store near the magazines.   Two people can maneuver easily.  You can bring flyers and the sign.  
We like to have two people per shift.  If only one person is available and the store is busy a volunteer from another group may be called in to help.  In that case, the monies will be split between the two groups. 
If anyone needs a quick lesson on gift wrapping,  the staff will be glad to assist you.   We have a fast and easy way.The store provides wrapping paper, scissors, tape, ribbon,  a jar for donations and chairs to sit.  You bring the fun.MoneyAt the end of the day, please put the donations in an envelope(that will be provided) and ask the staff to put it in Pat's Box. I will have it deposited in the bank and the group will receive a check in January.  These instructions are per the Exchequer.

AttendanceIt is very important that you arrive for your shift on time.  If you cannot come, try to find a replacement.  If you cannot work your shift and cannot find a replacement you must call the store. " No shows" could jeopardize this opportunity for next year.  
ParkingThere is ample free parking.  Because of the Holiday season you may have to circle around a bit.  You can also park in the back lot near.  If you do, you must call the store for someone to let you in the back door.  Ideally ask for me.
GarbPlease wear garb.  This will let the public know who we are at a glance.  It could get warm or cool. Dressing in layers is suggested.  DiningThere are several good eateries in the shopping center.   The choices are Thai, Middle Eastern,  Zingerman's,  Seva,  The Quarter Bistro,  Kroger Deli, Subway and Jersey Mikes.  There are many other fast food establishments nearby on Stadium.  Changing roomsThe ladies public restroom is large enough for women to change into garb if needed.  The men's room is smaller but can be used.  There is a storage room upstairs that is mostly empty during the Holiday season that is also available.

Event and Demo Reports

 

Royal University of the Midrealm - Both good and bad. Event hosted on a
major school campus. Parking was less than ideal. Not many classes but those
that were there were good. Our own lady Simcha will be dean of here college
(History and SCA Administration) next year. 

 

Upcoming Baronial Events and Demos

 

Nicola's Gift Wrapping (Sat. Dec. 13th and Sun. Dec. 21st) - Choir will be
2-3:30!

 

Baronial Gift Exchange (Mon. Dec. 15th) - This is in place of our regular
business meeting. Any critical business items will still be discussed if
needed. Rules has been posted.

 

Wassail! (Sat. Dec. 20th) - Everything going good. Friday 7:PM help with
setup needed. Website is up. Schedule is out.

 

St. Cecilia at the Tower (April 17th - 19th, 2015 - $400) - Looking into
changing the date to avoid conflict with A&S 50 event in Roaring Wastes as
they have very limited date availability for their site and we are more
flexible.  

 

Spring Crown Tournament (May 23rd and 24th, 2015) - Packet submitted to
Crown. Now we wait till Kingdome 12th Night Curia meeting for answer. 

 

Old Business

 

Winterfest Registration (Tuesday Jan. 13th, 2015 4-7:30PM  - $25) - This is
to reserve a table for U of Michigan recruiting at their annual student
Winterfest fair. This is the 3rd of our 3 meeting discussion/approval
process. Confirmed we should have enough people to support his. No other
issues. APPROVED!

 

New officer for Minister of Youth position: Victoria - Ceara is intent on
stepping down as MoY at Wassail! Victoria is interested in stepping up. Lots
of good feedback from members. This is the 3rd of our 3 meeting
discussion/approval process. Candidate gave speech. No issues brought forth.
APPROVED! 

 

New Business

 

Event proposal: Terpsichore at the Tower (Mar. 7th, 2015) - Ceara brought
forth the Terp event budget proposal. There was some questions around the
$/budget as the initial proposal was not adding up number wise. There was
also an idea doing a "rolling day-board" instead of a traditional lunch
tavern. This is something that is done commonly in the East. There were many
questions on this as well. It was suggested the proposal be solidified more
and then brought back before the group. 

 

Group discussion

 

This is a new section as there were a couple of items that needed to be
discussed with the group, but no decisions were to be made (so not
"business" that needs group approval. 

 

UoM Student group president needed - has agreed to be the student president!
Yea!

 

 

Announcements

 

Victoria - If you have ideas on where you like to see the MoYouth office
going, please let Victoria know.

 

Martin - Says he has tasty fingers!

 

No business meeting on Dec. 22nd

 

Officer Reports (normally done on 4th Monday of each month)

 

Exchequer (Tristan) - YWHMANYCHA. WE are well stocked for the Yule season
with 6303 gallons of egg nog. That's about $12,353.86. There is still about
$500 left for GDoT outstanding.

 

Webminister (Aaron) - We have a website. Quarterly report submitted. Gave
new Baron and Baroness access to site to edit information. Looking to
improve mobile experience. 

 

Fencing Marshal (William) - No report. 

 

MoAS (Arina) - Still having workshops. New set coming. Choir happening on
Sundays.

 

Mo Youth (Ceara) - We have a new officer! We have lots of kids. Things are
going really well. Kids were everywhere at GDoT. 

 

Chatelaine (Genoveva) - Quarterly report is in. Things are going great! We
have new people. Looking for a replacement. If interested, please see
Genoveva.

 

Chronicler (Gavriil) - Need articles for upcoming issues of the Citadel.
Next one schedule for Mid December just after Wassail! 

 

Herald (Johannes) - via e-mail: Report: Kingdom court at GDoT. Court

Knight Marshal (Gregor) - No practice on Nov. 9th (no rooms available). The
16th was low attendance. Four new loaner shields are being built. The new KM
handbook has been updated. Last practice of the year is Dec. 7th.

Seneschal (Finn) - Quarterly report due at end of November. I have a couple
of people interested in becoming the next seneschal, but I'm going to be a

But there are two crucial shifts that need to be covered because it's often the busiest time of the day:

Unto His Excellency Ermenrich and the great populace of Cynnabar-
It was our honor and delight to host Herald Night (as always).? The exercise was most welcome and quite fun!? As Pentamere Regional Herald, I would love to see workshops such as this happen occasionally, as we often attract new members who may be interested in activities such as vocal heraldry, and these de-mystify the process.? Should Their Excellencies and Their Herald desire, I recommend such a workshop twice a year: in preparation for our busy autumn/winter season (GDoT and Wassail!) and again in the spring (St Cecelia, Terpsichore) or summer (in preparation for Pennsic War).
Again, it is our pleasure to host.? Thank you to those who came, and to Their Excellencies for putting together such an enjoyable activity!

Greetings to the list from Henry Kersey of Devon!


While we are all busily preparing for our Wassail in Jerusalem next week, I
would like to write a little about the food of the Middle East.  Many of us
in the area of Cynnabar are lucky to be able to experience Middle Eastern
cuisine whenever we wish, as the local population bears a high percentage
of people from various Middle and Near Eastern cultures.


The Middle Eastern foods of our period are not much different than those
found today; we can easily recognize such foods as kebabs, pilafs and
sweets and savories wrapped in crispy phyllo dough.  The cuisine of period
Jerusalem would be redolent with rich spices and herbs, earthy vegetables
and meats such as beef, lamb, goat and chicken, spit-roasted, baked or
simmered slowly for flavor development.


I have attached a couple of favorite recipes should anyone wish to be
adventuresome and try cooking some of this wonderful cuisine.  Both of the
recipes are Lebanese in origin and personal favorites of mine from my own
cookbook.


Ghallaba is a slow-cooked stew comprised mostly of tomatoes, peppers and
paprika; it can be made with chicken, beef or goat, or also vegetarian (if
making it only with vegetables, I usually add potatoes later in the cooking
process).


Chicken Ghallaba


4 lbs chicken breast, cut into 1? cubes

1/3 c olive oil or more/less to taste

3 cups chopped onion

2 T chopped garlic

8 T hot paprika (not smoked; can mix hot and sweet if desired)

1 t ground cumin

1 t chili powder

2 28 oz cans stewed tomatoes

4 15 oz cans tomato sauce

4 large green peppers, cut into strips

4 large red peppers, cut into strips

4 cups sliced celery

3 cups sliced mushrooms

3 large carrots cut in diagonal ?? slices

Salt and pepper to taste


Brown chicken in a large heavy pot in olive oil with the onions, garlic,
paprika, cumin and chili powder.  Cook until all of the juice boils away,
but do not burn.  Add the stewed tomatoes, tomato sauce, peppers, celery,
and mushrooms.  Stir and bring to the boil.  Boil for ten minutes, then
reduce heat and simmer covered for at least two to three hours, stirring
occasionally.  After an hour?s cooking time, check for seasonings and salt
and pepper to taste.


(This dish improves in flavor the longer it?s cooked; I usually assemble
it, cook for several hours, refrigerate and then cook for a couple of hours
the next day.  If necessary, it can be reduced further by cooking while
uncovered.  As you might have noted, this makes a *lot* of ghallaba; the
recipe does well being halved, but I have always made enough for several
meals at a time as the cooking time is extensive.  This is best served
(IMNSHO) over basmati rice or a rice pilaf with a dollop of excellent
hummus on the side.)


Mujadara is a dish which has roots in many Middle Eastern peasant cuisines;
made primarily of rice and lentils, it gets its signature smoky/sweet
flavor from heavily caramelized onion, cumin and cinnamon.


Mujadara


? cup olive oil

2 lbs yellow onions, sliced thinly

1 ? cups green lentils

1 ? cups basmati rice

4 cups hot water, in which has been dissolved 4 bouillon cubes of your
choice

? cup dark brown sugar

3 t ground cumin

1 t ground cinnamon


In a large skillet or dutch oven (I use a chicken frying skillet), warm the
olive oil over medium heat.  Add the sliced onions and cook, stirring
occasionally, until very caramelized.  Go beyond what you think is done;
you should have dark, dark brown onions with a few burned spots when you
are finished.  This may take between 30 minutes to an hour, depending on
the size of cooking vessel.  While the onions are cooking, place the rinsed
lentils in a saucepan, cover with an inch of water and cook over medium
heat, undisturbed, for 20 minutes.  Drain the lentils and set aside.  When
the onions have caramelized sufficiently, add the rice.  Stir to mix well
and sautee the rice for a few minutes.  Add the cooked lentils, water and
bouillon, sugar and spices.  Stir well and bring the mixture to a boil.
Reduce the heat to a low simmer, cover and let cook until all the water is
absorbed; this may take 25 ? 40 minutes, depending on the size of your
pan.  Check when all the water is gone; if the rice is still crunchy, add a
little bit of water and allow it to steam until done.


This is a great dish and is wonderful served with a dollop of Greek yogurt
or labneh, another cultured milk product.



If you would like to look a little further into recipes from the Mideast,
the internet (naturally) is a treasure trove of information.  One of my
favorite cookbooks is called ?Feast from the Mideast? by Faye Levy, an
American who fell in love with Jerusalem as a teenager, moved there, later
married a local man and was so captivated by the cuisine that she became a
chef and food author.


Middle Eastern foods and sweets can be located at several local specialty
food shops; in Ann Arbor we have the Mediterranean Market on Stone School
and Ellsworth, and the Aladdin Market on Packard, among others.



Middle Eastern culture prides itself on its hospitality, and a very
important part of that is meze.  Meze are small dishes like hors d?oeuvres,
and are always available to guests or part of a hafla or party.  We will
have a table of meze at our event and if you would care to bring something
to share, these are the type of dishes you might find:



Hummus (a paste made of chickpeas, tahini, garlic and lemon, with possibly
many other flavors)


Baba Ghanouj (a paste made of roasted eggplant and garlic; one of my
favorites)


Almonds (coated almonds were also period, although probably not in the
bright colors of Jordan almonds!)


Various types of Nuts


Fruit


Dates


Figs


Crackers, Pitas or Pita Chips


Dolmas (grape leaves stuffed with rice, mint and other ingredients; easily
found canned at a Middle Eastern market)


Sweets (baklava, cashew fingers, other types of phyllo-wrapped sweets)


Maamoul (amazing shortbread cookies filled with dates or walnuts; readily
available at a specialty food store)


Turkish Delight (lokum), a jellied candy usually flavored with rosewater,
walnuts or pistachios

We are planning for Grand Day of Tournaments 2015. There are two 
possible dates in November, the 14th and 21st which are not home games 
(very important) but have conflicts with both days. On the 14th is the 
Known World Rapier and Costuming Symposium somewhere in Illinois. While 
it is outside of the 100 mile rule, the potential draw of the rapier 
community could be significant. On the 21st, is the UCONN Gaming 
Convention which many of our populace partake in, plus it would less 
than one week before Thanksgiving. Also, does anyone know when RUM will 
be? Mistress Claire?

We would like your feedback as to the preference of dates to hold GDoT 
in 2015.

Greetings to the Barony from your Seneschal (with serious hat on),

 

I see that a post has been made both to the Cynnabar e-mail last and to
Cynnabar Facebook page discussing possible dates on next year's GDoT event.
I would first like to thank Johannes and Agnoletta for posting to both
lists. 

 

I notice that the full conversation is happening on the Facebook page.
Personally, I do not like having "internal Cynnabar planning" discussions on
Facebook, as there are many non-Cynnabar people on the Facebook list. But
perhaps it is something I'll have to live with. As this has just been a
discussion on best possible event dates, I guess it is not too bad. But
please be careful what gets discussed on Facebook vs. our internal e-mail
list. Thank you.

 

In regards to the event proper, I would like to put a couple reminders to
people. 

 

First: We have in the recent past agreed to get a recurring event on the
Kingdom calendar before our normal full event process (3 meeting approval)
has done. These should be considered and exception to the rule. GDoT is far
enough out that I expect to go through the full event proposal/approval
process before we submit anything to Kingdom Calendar. 

 

Second: While I commend Johannes and Agnoletta for getting an early start on
putting an event bid together, I would like to remind folks that more than
one person(s) can submit a bid for an event. It would then be up to the
group to decide on which event bid that they want to support. So if you were
considering doing something for GDoT (or any other event), you can always
put in an event bid also. 

 

Second part the second (the caveat): The one part  about more than one
person putting in an event is that Cynnabar currently does not have a
"submit event bid for 'X' event by 'Y' date" written up. That is, when
should a GDoT event bid be due by? It's not written down anywhere. I do plan
to correct this so we as a Barony will have a standard calendar of dates for
our normal recurring events and when bids should be done by in order to get
them on Kingdom Calendar (if needed). This will then help give anyone who
wants to submit an event bid a much clearer guideline. I plan to have this
in place over the next month or so.

 

So it seems obvious that Johannes and Agnoletta are planning on submitting
an proposal for the GDoT event. If anyone else is planning on it also,
please let me know so I can make sure the process is fair to all.

Good morning Cynnabar!

I wanted to contact you this morning because I am working with Mistress
Claire as co-event steward of Crown Tournament.  Although it is not yet
completely "official" that Cynnabar is running Crown - it does in fact look
very likely, and we have been told to go ahead and start making
arrangements.

With that said, I am very excited about this and about Cynnabar's
involvement in such a large, grande event!!  We will need quite a lot of
participation, and in the next few weeks I will be looking for assistance
in a variety of areas.  Generally I like to ask people face-to-face to see
if they are interested in working on an event.  And I intend to do so.

However, I am also putting out a call for anyone interested in working on
Crown Tournament.  We will have LOTS to do, and I hope to have as much
excitement and energy as possible.  So please feel free to contact me if

I am not worried.  The KEM's assasination attempt was thwarted by His
Majesty, so I am sure They will continue to keep the Earl Marshal in
check.

The fencing club where we have our Youth combat practice is not available on the last Sunday of December.  We have decided to move practice to the week before so the youth have a chance to practice this month.

Therefore the next regularly scheduled Southeastern Michigan Youth Combat Practice will be next Sunday, December 21st, 2014.

I know this is late notice but we weren't even sure we were going until
recently, and then I had to realize that it's a potluck....

My husband has a lot of very serious food allergies.  I know that it has
already been asked for people to label ingredients (please!) but if people
could avoid bringing dishes with bananas in them, that would be greatly
appreciated.  He is *incredibly* allergic to bananas--he can't even be in
the same room as an unpeeled banana.  They trigger an anaphalactic reaction
in him.

I hope that this doesn't inconvenience anyone!

(I will also be posting this on the facebook page.)

Wassail (Wassail!) is this weekend! We hope to see you on Saturday
beginning at noon as we ring in the Winter Solstice.

As you're preparing for the event, keep in mind that there are three
(three!) reasons to bust out your creative chops: the Cynna-Bar contest
<http://cynnabar.org/wassail/cookies.html>, a Table Decorating Contest
<http://cynnabar.org/wassail/decorating.html> judged by our *new* Baronial
A&S Champion, and an A&S display for anyone who would like to share what he
or she has been working on. You may also wish to bring crafts and games to
play with others, a dish to share in the potluck, or ingredients for our
wassail drink.

The event will feature plenty of unscheduled time for socializing, both
upstairs and in the basement family area. And for those who are looking for
more structured fun, there will be activities for youth and newcomers, as
well as a Middle Eastern corner with themed projects and entertainment.

In the evening, Ermenrich and I will hold Our first Cynnabar court, which
We are incredibly excited about. Court will feature the installment of the
new A&S Champion and two new Baronial officers, some entertaining
performances, and several Kingdom and Baronial awards. After court, please
stay for dicing, dancing, drinking, and desserts. The children of the
Barony will also receive a visit from a Very Important Guest.

Three safety-related items:

   - We welcome candles! They go a long way toward giving the event a
   "period" feel. However, *please make sure they are in candleholders
   whose sides rise higher than the flames*.
   - *Please bring ingredient lists* for your potluck dishes, including a
   list of the sub-ingredients that your pre-prepared ingredients are made of.
   (For example, did you know most soy sauce has wheat in it?)
   - Because of dangerous allergies, we have been asked to avoid having
   bananas at the event. *Please do not bring bananas* into the building.

Greetings to all of you! I, for one, have already started celebrating the holidays with great festivities! I hope that all of you are off to a great start as well!
Thank you, your excellencies for such a beautiful invite!  
I have just a few details I wanted to express as well as reminders.
First, If anyone can bring extra extension cords and/or plug strips, I (and people with crock pots) would be most grateful!
Second, If you would like to come help set up, the time will be 7pm on Friday!
Cookie Contest: It's not just about cookies. See the website and check the rules! I can't wait to see what people come up with!
Table decorating contest: (also see website for rules) There are supplies! Please note a table cloth will be on every table (find me if you wish not to use it) there will also be candles and class holders, pine cones, and (hopefully) some greenery. I will let you know if I'm successful in that or not. Everything else is up to you and how you choose to do things!
Families! Just a reminder that the basement will be open for family fun. blankets, rugs and pillows are encouraged!!! I will also have a TV and some videos supplied.
There are great youth activities happening! Viktoria has some fabulous things planned for our youngest members! 
-The making of Beeswax candles-Leather stamping-Perfume-Mosaic coasters-bean boxes
This year we are trying something new and there WILL be youth activities in the evening. these will include-Potpourri Ornaments-Gingerbread Cookie Decorating-Kid Friendly Wassail-Mistletoe Making-snowflakes

As winter is now officially upon us and the holidays have been here in full
force, I wanted to take a moment to not only remind people that there is no
Baronial business meeting tomorrow, but also wish everyone a happy holidays.
I truly believe that Cynnabar is one of the great Baronies, not just in this
Kingdom, but the Known World. And with upmost sincerity, it is ALL the
people of this Barony that make it what it is today. So I want to take a
moment at the end of the year to thank everyone for their time, energy and
love that they give back to this group. Making Cynnabar not just friends who
participate in a hobby together, but a group of family and a home for all.

Greetings! And Wassail!Another year has come and gone. And upon last night it was comforting to gather with friends and neighbors as we gathered on the darkest of nights. The games were lively, the dancing sprightly, the food all so delicious, the youth with light in their eyes as the crafted and met a very special visit from Santa was bright, but most of all the company was warm and inviting. Wassail was a success and was so because of the fantastic members of this great populace who reveled together.
I would like to thank a few people,
First, their Excellencies who are always such a joy! It was my pleasure to work with them and I was grateful for all of their help in the planning of Wassail.
Master Henry, Fatima, and Maestra Giovanna for all of their hard work and planning for the Middle Eastern bits that were attributed throughout the night!
Viktoria for arranging amazing Youth Activities.
Lord Gavriil and Ionis for washing head tables dishes.
Mistress Alina for having arranged a fine and glorious full day of dancing fun!
All of the set up crew
Everyone who graciously stayed and quickly helped get the site clean (even extremely cleaner than when arrived). Especially to Master Midair who kept things on track! There were so many awesome people who did this that I'm afraid I cannot name them all! I was over joyed and thankful!
And to all of those who attended and made Wassail the grand gathering it was!

another group that needs to use the site kitchen at the same day on the
25th, but we are able to work with them and we can have our lunch tavern
also.

 

Spring Crown Tournament (May 23rd and 24th, 2015) - Curia has not met yet to
officially make a decision, but we have heard that Their Highnesses, K.Sen
and K.Earl Marshal said it will most likely be ours (and can start
planning).

Event Proposal: Terpsichore at the Tower (Mar. 7th, 2015) ($925 budget
including lunch) - Given by Ceara. Good discussion around the (new to us)
dayboard/lunch setup. Right now the group seems to be leaning with trying
the dayboard. No other issues or concerns. This is the 1st of our 3 meeting
discussion/approval process.

 

Group Policy Proposal: New method of identifying our Event Stewards during
the event - Given by Sir Gregoire. As we have many events during the year,
being able to easily recognize the Event Steward(ess) at an event should be
something we strive for. To that end, we should have an easily recognizable
outfit (uniform?) for our Event Steward(ess) to wear. One of the most easily
recognizable outfit ever is that of the Pan-Am Stewardess! Therefore we
should have ALL Event Steward(ess) wear a Pan-Am Stewardess outfit (done in
a period style of course!). Many people seemed to like this idea. Others
found it may have been just a joke. It's now included in the minutes. So
come to the next meeting to weigh in on this.intriguing proposal! This may
be the 1st of our 3 meeting discussion/approval process for this.idea.

 

Group Discussion

 

A question on what date would be best for next year's Grand Day of
Tournaments, either Nov. 14th or Nov. 21st. It was noted that the 21st would
conflict with UCON. While a non-SCA activity, there are many members of the
group that would like to go to UCON and if we can avoid that weekend, as
long as the 14th doesn't conflict with other SCA events nearby, it would be
preferred. 

 

Announcements

 

Student group - It was announce that Harriet has agreed to become the next U
of Michigan student group president. Hooba! 

 

Grand Day of Tournament report - It was a profitable event. $1141.92 for
site and $281.44 for lunch tavern netting us a total profit of $1423.06!

Aaron and Jadwiga will be holding vigil at Pentamere's 12th Night on Jan
3rd. They will be elevated at Trigirtsee's 12th night (in Chicago) on Jan.
17th. They will also be donating the prize for the "Best new performer" for
the Craftsperson's Fair.

Aaron and Jadwiga are awesome also!

Greetings to all!

There will be no craft nights until the 6th of January, and there will be
no choir practice this Sunday the 28th, due to us(me and Randy) being sick.

We will start off the new year with a series of scroll workshops, which
will all have a small lecture/demo in the beginning, and then the rest of
the time will be time for working on scroll blank for the ValDay Scroll
challenge. The first workshop will deal with materials and basics on how to
plan your scroll. More information will come later.

For the choir: we are now done with Christmas music, so now we are going to
do some pilgrim music, the Cynnabar fight song, and whatever else that
catches our fancy, please let us know if you a song that you would like to
sing.

The MOAS report is due January 15th, so please send me a line before the
13th regarding what you have been doing A&S wise, that I may incorporate it
into the report.

Dear friends of Cynnabar and beyond,

Thank you for all your kind words to us since we were put on vigil at the
Grand Day of Tournaments.

We wanted to encourage everyone to come see us at our vigils. We will be
holding vigils at Pentamere 12th night on January 3rd (this Saturday). I
used to think that vigils were mainly for peers to talk to the vigilants,
but I really encourage everyone to come talk to us, especially those of you
we don't get to see so often.

Our elevation will be at Tree-Girt-Sea 12th night (January 17th) at evening
court, and we would love it if the populace of Cynnabar who is attending
the event could process in with us. Please let us know if you would be
interested. We will also have some limited vigil time there, if you can't
make it to Pentamere 12th night.
