Here you are!
Thanks to all who kept me awake at the meeting last night.
Kay
20150727 Barony of Cynnabar 7:00PM

Location: Classic Cup Café 4389 Jackson Rd Ann Arbor, MI 48103-1831

7 Plus Kay. Amazing Attendance for Peace Week! Thanks to all who came.

*Event and Demo Reports*

Lady Benedicta brought great credit to the Barony by taking up *a
last-minute Demo request*, placed 7/8 for performance 7/ 14, 15 or 16.

Girl Scouts Troop Heart of Michigan planned a medieval-themed daycamp and
requested people come out for a demo (talking, teaching, or providing a
craft opportunity. The camp was held at the Ypsi Regional Center (at 444
James L Hart Pkwy).

Lady Benedicta writes: “…went over to the daycamp for about 2 hours. Took
almost all my Western European garb, from Viking through Elizabethan;
arrived dressed in sideless surcoat, showed the rest of the things. Passed
around the pieces of the Elizabethan, which of course made them want me to
put it on. So I used the sideless surcoat outfit as the shift, omitted the
corset (for lack of time), and popped everything else on... Also had a
drop spindle and my lace pillow with me.
<SNIP-- She also taught them to play a medieval game, Nine-man’s Morris
from an on line resource.>

“Thought it went over well for just me, and something I put together in
just a couple of days.”

After Event Report from Lady Ilsa, via email: “When I took Lucy to camp the
next week, the director said the girls were quieter for my mother than they
were for anything else all week.”

Follow up conversations about *great performances at Saline Celtic Festival*
were salted in among the officer reports. Look there for more Word Fame.

*Words from Their Excellencies Ermenrich and Kasha of Cynnabar:*

NONE

*Upcoming Baronial Events and Demos*

*Grand Day of Tournaments (Saturday November 7th, 2015) – *

*Old Business Hold for Post Pennsic: *

• *Trailer for List field parts*. A flat bed is available for $329.
Is a covered trailer better? 5’x10’ would be best size. Shopping results:

• *Stickers with the Baronial Populace Badge* (and maybe name?)
Cost? _______

• *Proposal for Leather and Rivers for Armored Fighters *–
Gregor purchase
for $200 leather and rivets for use in our loaner equipment for armored
combat. 1st of 3 meetings was 7/20

*Discussion vie email from Malachy: *A few suggestions for this: Buckles
are probably required as well. - A side of leather scraps from "the real
leather people" at Pennsic makes for good strap leather. The barony may
wish to consider picking one of these up. If I'm less of an airhead than I
expect to be at Pennsic (it's been a rather busy few weeks), I may pick up
one specifically to donate. Keep the budget for the copper rivets, but
consider getting a collective order through Jay-Cee rivets. I need to
replenish my stock, as I suspect do others. S&H is where a chunk of the
cost goes, but that amortizes nicely if someone simply can't manage to
drive out there. Perhaps not for discussing in this thread, but perhaps an
"armor first aid kit" for practice. Many people carry their own, but
occasionally forget things. Make this one a "you use it, you owe the
barony a few bucks". :-)

*New Business*

NONE

*Other Group Discussion*

List Field needs some repairs to uprights. Damage sustained at Crown.

*Status check on Approved Budget Items:*

• *Budget item: Fabric/materials for making new Baronial floor covering *($95
budget) Ms. Giovanna Finish in the Fall, ready for Grand Day of
Tournaments, says the project team.

• *Budget item: Fabric and materials Shadowed Stars Baronial Gift ($200
budget) – *Baron Ermenrich Taken to Pennsic for Delivery, rumor has it.

• *Youth box* – On hold till after War.

*Announcements* –

<Crickets>

*Officer Reports*.

Exchequer (Elsa) – There are no reports of financial problems. KExq says
we have a Metric Boatload of money; +/-$12,000. Remember to notify Elsa by
email if you need her to bring the Checkbook to a meeting to do a
reimbursement.

Kay will be going in to sign onto the bank account on here next weekday off
and in town, 8/7/15.

Webminister (Aaron) – We Have a website.

Fencing Marshal (William) – Maybe the fencers are some of the people
discussing Sunday Practices on the email list.

Min A&S (Arina) – There will be craft nights on Tuesdays during Pennsic.

MOAS report was sent in on time (and accidentally sent to everyone due to
my "helpful" email program :)

There will also be a scribal day on one of the Saturdays, but exact date is
dependent on when I can get the gutters done, so keep posted, and if
interested people can let me know, I can contact people directly as soon as
I know. It will also be posted on the calendar and on the mailing list +
face book.

The "Thank you ice cream party" for the kitchen staff of Crown tournament,
will happen after Pennsic, in our newly refurbished gazebo.

After Pennsic I would like to get some kind of survey together, about the
future of craft nights. I have already talked a bit about the craft day a
month suggestion, but I have not had much feedback yet.

Min. Youth (Viktoria) – The Cynnabar Youth Website is up and running. Address
to follow. At Celtic Festival the Youth activities area was busy all
day. Visitors
could make Rosewater perfume, or bubble wands decorated with beads. Much
bubble play ensued (possibly instigated by our Lady Daye).

Chatelaine (Daye) – Saline Celtic Festival was a huge success. The $50
allotment for new brochures may finally be spent as that is about how many
were given out of the ones printed on FREE paper last month. We are still
putting stuff away in the barn.

The post Celtic Festival process was interrupted by helping some new
families get organized for War with Loaner gear, including clothing from
Gold Key and other sources, including Daye and Viktoria’s closets.

Chronicler (Gavriil) – We know the Citadel came out…

Herald (Johannes) – Quarterly report was submitted at the end of June, on
schedule.

Knight Marshal (Gregor) – I see the Practice announcements and attendance
discussion every week.

Archery Marshal (Open) – Word from Saline Celtic is that Archery was busy
all day! Magnificent support was provided to Grey for the events he had
planned, according to Daye. Viktoria’s daughter (please, tell me your name)
was there and shooting or assisting all day, to the point of missing lunch.

Seneschal (Kay) – It has been a long strange sojourn in China. I thought
most of the Society when in the Forbidden City and on the Great Wall
(restored). Considering the times at which these sites were constructed
and flourished gave rise to comparisons with Europe at the same times.

Thanks to Lady Ceara for being my meeting facilitation replacement while I
was away, and to THL Genoveva for taking care of meeting and minutes when
Ceara’s plans were disrupted by changes at work.

Baron and Baroness (Kasha and Ermenrich) – I suspect, failing reports to
the contrary, the Their Excellencies would say, “We are STILL a Barony!”
