Greetings Everyone!

Terp! This is it! The 7 day count down!!!

Just a few things to make sure people are aware of.

-Dancing is awesome and I know everyone who shows love to dance Friday
night but we still very much need people to be helping with the set-up and
clean up crew really still need people helping out! If we don't have enough
people, we will be asking those who show up on Friday to help out! Gavriil
and Eidy are the staff heads for this! Please contact them or myself for
more information. This has to happen! Please volunteer!

-MMMM, dessert! Magda is still requesting dishes for this revel. Please
help us out by bringing a dish to pass. If you know you plan to bring
something, please contact her!

-Please check the Terp Main schedule as a few things are different this
year!

-Mainly that court will be starting about 4:15.

-Dinner will follow that. For those of you making reservations. We should
be done with court at about 5.

-The ball will start at 6:30!

Thanks everyone! Everything is coming together nicely and I look forward to
seeing all of you Friday and Saturday!

I was good in that I got this worked up well ahead of the deadline then was bad and forgot to send it in to the Pale editor on time after my co-Event Steward reviewed it so it will not be in the Pale. 

Please share with your groups. 

This is a donation only site fee and we are pushing it as a great event to bring new people to. 

I am also still looking for teachers for missile weapon related classes target and combat.

Terp gate update.

I would like to thank everyone who volunteered to sit at gate for Terp this
coming weekend. All shifts are filled at this time. Everyone who has a
shift scheduled should have received a reply from me letting you know your
shift time. I will have a copy of the schedule at troll if you are unsure.

 It looks like a couple of people contacted me after the schedule was
filled to offer their services and failed to get back with them to explain
that all shifts were full. I would like to offer my apology for this

Pulling your hair out trying to copy those intricate and confusing patterns  
found in early Irish and Carolingian manuscripts?  Erased your work so many  
times the paper is getting holes?  Join us for an easy-paced evening of  
practice drawing "Celtic" style knotwork.  This type of design has a  
variety of uses, from award scrolls to embroidery, camp decoration to  
woodcarving.  We'll use an "X box" method to copy some basic examples.   
Materials and handouts provided.  And if drawing isn't your thing feel free

Greetings lords and ladies!

WOW. Just WOW.

This was my first event of this size that I was running. It was an honor to
do so! It was also my honor to have such a fantastic staff this year. For
those of you who don't know them or what they have done, I would like to
make sure they are recognized for their great work:

-Mistress Giovanna as my drop-dead deputy who also assisted me in many
things.
-Lord Uillec who was the head of gate.
-Alex who organized the European Dance schedule and ball
-Master Aaron who was in charge of getting the band together, also for
printing the programs and helping with the website.
-Mistress Zahira for organising the Middle Eastern classes and hafla
-Felix for creating and organizing a fantastic day board.
-Magda for a cake so realistic that I was sure it couldn't possibly be a
cake and for organizing the dessert revel.
-Eidy for organizing and setting up the event on Friday.
-Gavriil for pulling together the clean up crew and getting the site closed
at least 10 min. earlier than we have in the past!
-and to the both of them for their efficient organization of people to make
an efficient change between classes and court in the main hall.
- Baroness Genoveva for an awesome website and being quick to make the tons
of changes I requested, sometimes many times a day. Not to mention having
done so while gone away on vacation. Also for helping getting people set up
with garb!
-The event's on call royalty liaison and for her help getting people set up
in garb!
-and of course, Their Excellencies for being a great host and offering a
fantastic court!

When I first started this, I went through estimating about how many
volunteers it would take in total to make this event work. I had counted
some where between 80 and 90 different positions that need to happen to
make the event run sufficiently. That means about 1/2 to 2/3 of everyone
who showed up to the event helped. I cannot express my thanks to everyone
one enough! Especially those who may have taken on 2 or more of the
positions that were needed.

The event was a great success! Everyone seemed to have a lot of fun and I
am thankful to be part of such an amazing and grand group of people that
make things like Terpsichore or any of the other events we run work so
well! I heard almost all great things about how things went yesterday and
that's because of everyone!

clean-up/setup crew. All else done.

 

Spring Revel (April 12th, 2015) - Rapier changeover will be done at a
different time. There will be two champions decided on the day, armored and
archery (which is new).

 

St. Cecilia at the Tower (April 24th - 26th, 2015) - No update.

 

Spring Crown Tournament (May 23rd and 24th, 2015) - We have the football
field! We found a place to rent a stage. They deliver and pick-up but we

Old Business

 

Event: Grand Day of Tournaments (Saturday November 7th, 2015. $1980 budget)
- Proposal from Agnoletta (Event Steward) and Johannesas (Deputy event
steward). Back at Liberty School again. While there are still a couple of
key staff positions to fill (Tavern and Gate), it was agreed that this event
is one the Barony wants to support AND get it on the Kingdom Calendar ASAP,
so there was no objection to going forward with supporting this event. This
is the 3rd of our 3 meeting discussion/approval process.  APPROVED!

 

Lunch Tavern for St. Cecilia at the Tower ($400 budget) - Mistress Arina
brought forth a nicely written proposal for one of her (now famous!) lunch
taverns. $400 budget with a break-even of 40 people. This is the 3rd of our
3 meeting discussion/approval process. No issues or concerns. APPROVED!

 

Budget item: List upgrades ($400 budget) - Baroness Giovanna on behalf of
Sir Gregoire is asking for $400 to make additional sections and improvements
to the Baronial list field. This will allow for five 21'x21' lists to be
setup at the same time. This is the 3rd of our 3 meeting discussion/approval
process. No issues or concerns. APPROVED!

 

Budget item: Fabric for making new fighter tabards ($250 budget) - Baroness
Kasha is asking for $250 to buy fabric to make new fighter tabards as the
Barony is almost out. She will be coordinating workshops to get them made as
well. This is the 3rd of our 3 meeting discussion/approval process. No
issues or concerns. APPROVED! 

 

New group officer: Seneschal - Mistress Kay - Mistress Kay as generously put
her name in the hat to become Cynnabar's next Baronial Seneschal. This is
the 3rd of our 3 meeting discussion/approval process. Discussion happened.
Many good comments. All very impressed. APPROVED! (Transition to be
determined)

 

Demo: Penguicon (April 25th or 26th, 2015) - Request for the Barony to
support the fencing demo at Penguicon again this year. It was a big hit last
year and the fencers would like to do it again. It is acknowledged that it
is on the same weekend on St. Cecilia, but there is support for the fencing
demo outside our group as well so there should be enough to support both St.
Cecilia and the fencing demo at the same time. Also, the fencing demo will
most likely be schedule for a Sunday time slot, interfering even less with
the main St. Cecilia day. This is the 2nd of our 3 meeting
discussion/approval process. No issues or concerns.

 

New Business

 

Budget item: Fabric/materials for making new Baronial floor covering for in
front of Baronial thrones during court ($95 budget) - Giovanna and Millisant
has a nice design for doing a new floor covering for the Barony to use in
front of the Baronial presence. The design was shown and everyone liked it.
Targeting to have done by Crown. No issues or concerns. This is the 1st of
our 3 meeting discussion/approval process.

 

Group Discussion

 

If Exchequer is in the house: How to properly fund/pay for Baronial
t-shirts. - This has been figured out. It's OK for Gaviil to collect
money/order/pay for things and then give the extra/overage to the Barony.
This was approved by the Kingdom Exchequer.

Our Baroness (thru HE Ermenrich) decided to get cherry pie (warmed up) with
whip cream. Ermenrich appeared to enjoy the pie very much.

I honestly believe that one should not hold an SCA office for extended
periods of time, no matter how awesome you are at doing that job. We must
give others a chance to come in and make their mark within the SCA and help
out as well. Also, having more people hold offices helps avoid burn-out
within the group and also keeps the group fresh (and clean smelling!). So as
I'm looking to do something more in line with my current.caliber, and hand
this office off in a few weeks to Mistress Kay. It weird. I will both miss
writing these meeting minutes up and at the same time be glad it's not
something I'll have to do anymore. But until I'm done.here they are!

Event and Demo Reports

 

Fighters Retreat (Feb. 28th, 2015) - Well attended. Talked about a lot of
things. Going to continue melee practice and looking at moving it to
Thursdays. There was the Non-fighter's Retreat held the same day be several
ladies of the Barony. They shared period beauty products and cut out tabards
for the Cynnabar armored fighters. 

 

Terpsichore at the Tower (Mar. 7th, 2015) - See previous e-mails for more
details on the event. Over 130 people were signed in by 2:PM (more came
later even). One gentle even flew in from Texas for the event. Income was
just over $1700 (including lunch tavern). Full numbers will be given once
all receipts are in. Day board went over well. Doing an exit survey for
feedback. The ball was a bit under attended, but they got all the way
through the ball. Few complaints. Lots of complements. Lots of new people!

 

Upcoming Baronial Events and Demos

 

 

Spring Revel (April 12th, 2015) - No new updates other than to send in award
recommendations and please come! 

 

St. Cecilia at the Tower (April 24th - 26th, 2015) - Lots of people at Terp
noted that they were coming back for St. C. Her Highness will be in
attendance so please send in Kingdom award reqs as well.

 

Spring Crown Tournament (May 23rd and 24th, 2015) - Things are going well.
We now have a new giant site map that is laminated and much better. Planning
on having 2 at the event. Pre-reg is opening this week. The website is very
nice. Next staff meeting is March 21st at 10:AM at Mistress Clair's

Baronial Investiture ($200 budget) - HE Ermenrich would like to make a gift

identity seems appropriate. This request is for purchasing the materials for
making as many baldrics as we can for that price. This is the 1st of our 3
meeting discussion/approval process. Everyone liked the idea. 

 

Budget item: Archery supplies, general refreshing of used items ($200
budget) - Forrest Grey would like the Barony to buy general
refurbishment/supplies for the archery community (targets, ropes, backstops,
etc.)  This is the 1st of our 3 meeting discussion/approval process. No
issues or concerns.

Huh
so you look back at over 3 ? years of putting out these agenda and you
think, ?Wow, I must have written thousands of these things!?. But then you
do the math and it turns out to be almost 130 of them. 130 agendas. OK, take
away some dates for no meetings during holidays or Pennsic, and it?s
probably around 120 more realistically. But still. Seems like a lot to me!
And if you go back to the very start of me putting these out, it seemed very
sterile. I have grown as your Seneschal since then. I will miss these little
one-sided chats with my dear Barony on Sunday nights. But the meetings must
go on! (Like tomorrow?s.)

Budget item: Fabric/materials for making new Baronial floor covering for in
front of Baronial thrones during court ($95 budget) ? Giovanna and Millisant
has a nice design for doing a new floor covering for the Barony to use in
front of the Baronial presence. The design was shown and everyone liked it.
Targeting to have done by Crown. This is the 3rd of our 3 meeting
discussion/approval process. No issues or concerns. 

 

Budget item: Fabric and materials for making gift for Shadowed Stars
Baronial Investiture ($200 budget) ? HE Ermenrich would like to make a gift
from Cynnabar to the new Barony being created, Shadowed Stars. A gift of
baronial baldrics we can make for them to help them out establishing their
identity seems appropriate. This request is for purchasing the materials for
making as many baldrics as we can for that price. This is the 2nd of our 3
meeting discussion/approval process.

 

Budget item: Archery supplies, general refreshing of used items ($200
budget) ? Forrest Grey would like the Barony to buy general
refurbishment/supplies for the archery community (targets, ropes, backstops,
etc.)  This is the 2nd of our 3 meeting discussion/approval process.

Subject: [Cynnabar] A Call for Pennsic Favors!

Pay heed, good gentles of Cynnabar, for we have been charged with a task by
Princess Arabella. Her Highness requests that we make 25 favors for the
coming war at Pennsic. The design, pictured here, symbolizes the joining of
forces between the Midrealm and the East to take over Aethelmearc. To help
our populace answer Her Highness' call, I have prepared kits with the right
size linen, good amounts of floss, and an embroidery needle. I also have
embroidery hoops for anyone who needs one. Favor Kits will be available at
the weekly business meetings starting tonight, as well as at Sunday
practices and our Spring Revel. To encourage the productivity of the
favors, I will reward the Cynnabar member who makes the most favors by the
day of Coronation (May 2) with a hat or cap of their choosing, made by me.
If you are new to embroidery, this is a simple piece and I am happy to
teach you how to do it. Any straight stitch, such as outline, stem, or
chain, works well. I made this first favor with an outline stitch with just
one evening's work. Please let me know are able to help by replying to this
e-mail or by speaking to me at one of the above-mentioned places.

These are the second to last meeting minutes I'll send. I'm feeling a bit
nostalgic (or perhaps it's the garlic breadsticks talking?). I'll miss part

1st place! And Team Helive won second for their respective entries!

Good morning,

Crown Tournament is coming up in two months and we need your help!

As you may know, Crown is a two-day event, with a multitude of activities,
meetings, classes and so forth taking place.  Even a little tournament!

Mistress Claire and I truly expect this to be a "all-hands-on-deck" event,
and need everyone to see if they can put in an hour or two, so we can make
the event run smoothly and be a great success!

If you are are able to volunteer, please let me know.
We need helpers for set-up and tear-down, serving feast, assisting with
gate - and so forth!

The next regularly scheduled Southeastern Michigan Youth Combat Practice will be Sunday, March 29th, 2015.

Renaissance  Fencing Club 
408 Oliver Dr. 
Troy, MI 48084
1:00pm-4:00pm 

This is the same day/time/location as the adult Armored Combat and Rapier practice.

As always I will bring the loaner gear and there will be youth rapier.

FYI:	The will be youth combat at the ?It Takes My Child to Raze a Village? event on April 11th in Howell.  I will be Marshal-in-Charge and will have all of the loaner gear available.

Hi all,

St. Cecilia is about a month away, and we need some volunteers to make the
event work.

In particular we need people to help with *gate*, and one or two volunteers
to help doing *whatever jobs need doing* during the day (like taking class
attendance, handing out programs, coordinating room resetting, etc.).

For GATE these are the shifts. I'd like two people working gate per shift.

9AM - 11
11AM - 1PM
1PM - 3

Please let me know if you can cover one of these shifts, or if you could be
one of my wildcard volunteers.

The goal for this season's singing, is to master the Cynnabar fight song,  
so even if you usually do not come to choir, please consider stopping by

Our second goal is to find persona fitting pilgrims songs, and also other  
little things that you might have sung. We hope to find everyone a song,  
and it may take some digging, and some time, but we shall prevail!
