*Workshop Topics:* Tonight’s workshop was: *Castles with Mistress Claire.*
Nov. 21 *Epics from Kievan Rus with Lady Morwen: * Most extant manuscripts
from Kievan Rus (9th to 12th century) are either religious or legal texts,
and few of those survive. …in The Lay of Igor’s Campaign and the various
*bylini*, we can glimpse a world of courtly poetry that otherwise would
have vanished.
Nov. *28 Period Games with TH Lady Ceara: …*Lots of games can be played at
events or just at home with your friends. Come learn something new to play
at this year's Wassail or Pentemere 12th Night!
*January Book Club has 2 suggestions so far:*
· *Hilde *by Nicola Griffith. About Saint Hilda of Whitby as a
young woman.
· *All Things Shall be Well and All Manner of Things Shall be Well *by
Tod Wodicka. Novel with a medieval re-enactor as protagonist.

*Ann Arbor Dance Event,* “Time Traveler’s Ball” co-sponsored with AACT-MAD *Fri
Oct 28, 2016 7:30 -11:00 pm. Michigan League Lady Morwen, Liaison. *
· Members of Cynnabar were nearly1/3 of attendees. A very good
time was had by all.
· Final Budget numbers are to come.
*Grand Day of Tournaments 2016 Sat Nov 5, 2016,* Liberty School, Ann Arbor
Saline Road, Saline, MI. Ms. Giovanna Steward. Budget $1735. Breakeven 174.
· The first draft financial report from the event is attached to
the email.
· The lunch Tavern was almost sold out by 1 pm, and has made a
profit.
· Reports from armored combat and defense were all very positive
for the event and for the quality of competition.
· The Lion and Christians (plus Jews, and other religions) is the
most entertaining tournament structure ever, in this reporter’s opinion.
· Thrown Weapons had 31 throwers. A young and enthusiastic young
man took to the activity so well that he was gifted with an ax (by Dillon)
and his family has set up a target at their home.
*Closing of the Range, Sunday Oct 30, 2016*, Dillion’s Range, Baronial
Archery Marshal Godaeth.
· Turnout was 19 people, and despite the morning rain A good time
was had by all. Karen of Roaring Wastes was the overall Victor.
· The 3D shooting course was so popular there is discussion of
setting it up in the summer.
· Baron Ermenrich reported the recognition of a new Baronial Archer
Champion, Lady Benedicta

· Kay will fill out the space use request and return to Joe
Freeman, as soon as she can.
· STEWARD? TBD. Budget and planning should start at the end of
January. An excellent planning document has been created. Ask for a link
if you are interested in this honor.
*Their Majesties request Brewers, Vintners and Cordialers to send their
products to stock the Middle Kingdom Party at Gulf Wars 2017.*
· Derian is interested in holding a Brewing Workshop around that
idea.
· All you need to participate is a 1 gallon GLASS Jug.

· We will need to have all business for 12th night done by Dec 19th.
NOTE that the University is closed after 12/23. We will not be able to use
Pierpont on 12/26.

o We might be able to book Center Room. We can cancel later.
o A restaurant? Kay will investigate Holidays on Stadium
o Godaeth will ask about renting Zal Gaz Grotto Club room on Stadium. Plenty
of parking, we can potluck there. They have a bar and those who wish my
purchase beverages.
Baron and Baroness (Kasha and Ermenrich) –
There are many deserving people doing valuable work in our Barony.
Please do award recommendations to the Crown and to us for Baronial awards.
· The Crown will soon pull recommendations for 12th night awards. Do
not delay.
· Please copy us on any recommendations to the Crown so that we may
offer support for that recommendation.
If you have business with us note that 12th night Baronial Courts are
limited to 1 award action per barony.
