[Cynnabar] A tale of a former Cynnabarian from afar

A friend of mine, formerly of Caid, reports the following:

"Estrella War, 2003

I was on Gerhart and Una's court. We'd arrived on Tuesday, and it had
rained everyday, all day. Friday night was the worst, and the Caidan
encampment flooded.

Saturday morning the skies had cleared, but much of the Caidan encampment
were under six inches or more of water.

Gerhart (who I'm sure many Caidan's remember, is a big, strong guy) was
helping everyone carry, well, everything. Una was keeping it all organized.
It was cold, wet work. They could have delegated the unpleasantness to
others, and gone about the morning's business, but They didn't.

We'd just finished turning the Caidan Royal Pavilion into a drying center
when the King of Atenveldt and His entourage arrived.

"Your Majesty" He said addressing Gerhart, "I've come to talk to you about
today's battles."

Gerhart didn't hesitate a moment...

"I have a better idea." He said "You win. I have people I need to get out
of the mud."

And then he went back to taking care of His people. It's been 16 years, I
can still see him standing there, muddy to his knees and unwilling to leave
us to fend for ourselves.

I have served many Kings and Queens, as well as a few Princes and
Princesses. I have never been prouder of any of them than I was of Gerhart
von Cynnabar in that moment."
