1) 🎃 Pumpkin Decorating Contest! 🎃
Get your gourds ready!

-Decorate a pumpkin at home (any technique; carving, painting, maché, etc).
-Bring your masterpiece to the church.
-All attendees (practice and by-standers) are allowed to vote via Bean
Count.
-The pumpkin artist with the highest Bean Count by 8:30 p.m. wins a prize!

* No limits on size, style, or technique.
* Fun and bragging rights guaranteed.
* Pumpkins will be on display for populace to enjoy.

2) Bisclavret: Chivalry, Romance, and Werewolves!

Marie de France might not be a well-known name today, but in the 1100s her
poetic French lais recounting Breton folk tales were taking the world
(read: mostly just England and France) by storm. One of her most famous is
Bisclavret, the tale of a knightly, slightly silly werewolf who gets stuck
in wolf form after his wife steals his clothes and the king that he stays
really, really loyal to.

The Romantic Werewolf is everywhere in the modern day, from Teen Wolf to
popular new tropes based on debunked pack dynamic science from the 90s.
Come kick off spooky season and find out how this classic Medieval poem
about an even older folk tales impacts how we talk about werewolves,
Chaucer, romantic horror, silent films, and of course, Twilight.

(A translated prode version will be handed out. Feel free to bring your own
favorite werewolf story to share with the group, and we'll talk about how
it might connect!)
