I've attached a portion of the official student group requirements below. Also see <a href="http://studentorgs.umich.edu/guidebook/requirements">http://studentorgs.umich.edu/guidebook/requirements</a><br><br><div>In addition to the student officer (technically, that students must "lead and direct the organization") and constitution requirements, please note requirement 2 below. We do not currently meet, nor do I suspect have we ever met, that requirement. That isn't the end of the world. Basically, you need to have the student group and the outside organization be separate entities, the student group has only students and has a separate leadership structure (at least on paper) and then the events in UM rooms would have to be Barony of Cynnabar Student Group events rather than Barony of Cynnabar events. (Not sure if that would then violate some kind of SCA rule, but I suspect there's some way to do it so that both the University and the SCA are happy, at least on paper.)</div>
<div><br></div><div>As it stands now, we run the risk of having our room reservation privileges taken away if anybody decides to investigate our group; it's probably not that likely currently that they'd take a look at us given that we don't do much of anything other than reserve rooms (in particular we don't charge money for anything), but they have been getting stricter in recent years and I would expect only a matter of time. </div>
<div><br></div><div>Basically, I think the problem is remediable -- although I'm not really sure how they'd feel if they found that almost entirely non-students were the ones actually running and attending the scheduled events -- but it does require a little bit of work on the part of the group to maintain appearances, and it is important that we do a better job of this if we want to continue to use the Union for fight practice..</div>
