Re: [Cynnabar] Garage sale questions

I plan to engineer a few. I appreciate the dimmer. Since this is one of my pet items (peeve or project?) I would point out that since glass also dims candlelight and that candlelight from a votive is mostly lost among the table furniture, it is valuable to elevate the glass/candle assembly to nearly face height to get any atmospheric value (that is, festive faces at their best, namely candlelight!!!!).

As your candle nerd, I would also mention that a narrow glass enclosure starves the flame of oxygen, further dimming it. The further down the flame gets in the well, the dimmer it will get.

I will be glueing short water glasses and jam jars to blocks of wood for this.

I will also be bringing my traditional tower ham and some wine. This IS a damp site, right?

Yes. The container that the flame is in must be higher than the flame. :) but we can have them and the site has a fantastic dimmer that we can use as well! :)

Is there an open flame restriction?

1. If it is going into the garage sale then no. If you feel they should have a price because they are in newer condition then the silent auction is the place for them! You may set the start price for this if you like.

2. Siobhan is in charge of the garage sale. It will basically go all day. People can bring stuff whenever they like. She will help you get it where it needs to go! I just ask that if is not taken that it goes back home with the person who brought it.

I plan to have a small candle in glass at every table. I will be bringing my own. I assume some others will do the same.

:)

Thanks!

Should we put price tags on things? I have three boxes of medieval-topic, excellent-condition books, 1 Coleman stove with fuel and a griddle, and a few other relevant items.
What time should these be in your hands or do donors set them up?

Thanks.

BTW: Who-all is actually going to bring candles in glass? I don’t want to be the only one.
