Hello again!

As promised, I am writing the list regarding some of our upcoming college
recruitment opportunities in hopes that we can gather some interest and
participation. We have three upcoming dates in September in which we will
be able to educate interested UofM students about the SCA and Cynnabar. In
particular, I would like any current UofM students or Cynnabar members who
are around college age to contact me if they are available. ***In terms of
age, there is some wiggle room here, obviously there are graduate students
who may be older - I would just like to make sure we have some
of our targeted age-range to represent us, if possible!)

These are the dates and times we are looking into:
Festifall (on the Diag) - September 8th from 11-4

Northfest (North Campus) - September 13th from 11-3

Mass Meeting - September 19th from 6:30 - 9:30 in the Michigan Union.
In terms of Mass Meeting, I would be asking for a variety of different
people to attend (of all ages!). For the most part I would suggest we wear
modern clothes, with a couple of exceptions - but for the most part we want
to make potential newcomers feel comfortable by making ourselves seem as
approachable as possible. However, if we can have a variety of photos,
videos (I can bring my laptop), A&S displays and so forth - we can easily
showcase our activities and events to allow visitors to understand more
about how the Society works. Certianly more conversation regarding Mass
Meeting will follow!

I know that Birke has already contacted me regarding some of the above
dates, and let me know that she would be interested in helping - thank you!

Finally, Mistress Margarete, who has agreed to serve as my Deputy for
college recruitment, has suggested that we see if we can hold a Collegium
day for any newcomers that we gather from the above. It would be sometime
after the Mass Meeting, but a day and location have not yet been
determined. I am sure she can discuss this further, but essentially it
would be a longer opportunity for newcomers to learn about the history of
the SCA, learn about heraldry and garb, fighting, arts and sciences and so
forth in a informal and yet informative setting.

Please let me know if you have thoughts or comments. Thank you!

Yours,
Giovanna
