[Cynnabar] Non-warranted Chatelaines

Good afternoon everyone!

Something that I would like to suggest to all of the members of Cynnabar is
that we see each ourselves as Baronial Chatelaines.  If each of us could try
to find ways to be more welcoming to newcomers, to actively get them
involved, and to assist in mentoring people just joining the SCA - we may
have more long term success with recruitment and retention!

Please see below about opportunities to serve as Chatelaines-at-Large
throughout the Kingdom published in The Pale.  If this is something you are
willing and able to do, I would love to hear about it!  Please also consider
stepping up to be a local mentor.  Cynnabar has talked about implementing a
mentor-program in the past, and I would like to see about reviving this idea
and putting it into action.  Part of this will include having a list of
interested parties who would be willing to spend a little extra time with
newcomers at events or on the side to make sure that they do not feel
overwhelmed or are lacking the proper resources to make their SCA experience
great.  So again, please feel free to contact me if you are willing to take
on either or these opportunities!  Thank you!

There is a new non-warranted office being implemented for chatelaines
throughout the kingdom.  We are asking for any member of the populace who
wishes to work with newcomers as a point of contact.  We lose countless
people every month because they have difficulty getting through to a real
person who can point them in the right direction.  That first contact is
crucial.



I am asking anyone willing to have your name, email address and contact
number placed on a list that newcomers may access by region to please send
me your information.  Those people will be Chatelaines at Large working as a
support team.  No reports will be required other than a once a year
acknowledgement of your contact information.  You will not be required or
expected to maintain loaner garb, attend meetings or hold demos.  *This is a
non-warranted position*. The only (and vitally important) task of a
Chatelaine at Large will be to make contact with a potential new member who
is seeking further information for a group in your area and point them to
the nearest group.  Please assist us in helping new members find a welcoming
group.



If you are interested in being a Chatelaine at Large I need the following
information:

    SCA Name
    Modern Name
    Address
    Phone Number
    Email address
    Local and Regional Group most often associated with.
