I am so pleased to read such thoughtful posts in response to this
little can of worms. You folks ROCK!
I thought it was pretty obvious hat I wrote the opinion with a tongue
in cheek attitude, but in fact, it is true that I do believe the basic
concept points I stated are true and ought to be addressed. I love the
SCA, and when I see the pendulum swing so far out that it fails to
accomplish the intended goal (protecting the children in this case),
and embraces policies that are essentially placebos because they
create a net zero positive effect, then I think it is worth making
some fuss and getting people talking. The more people who talk and
voice opinions, the more thought is available for people consider, and
thus the more likely common sense is to prevail. I'm proud to see you
talking!
The only danger from people voicing their opinions and observations
comes from those who would prevent the conversation in the first
place. When we just shut up and let the few who happened to have
stepped into positions of authority make decisions without our input,
then we only have ourselves to blame if they make mistakes that affect
us adversely. So talk, think, and share what you learn.
