[Cynnabar] Weekly meeting minutes for 05/21/12 meeting

Here are the meeting minutes from the 5/21/12 meeting. 20 people were in
attendance.

Event and Demo Reports

Battle of the Inland Seas -  Pretty darn hot. The event was well organized.
It's a smaller event but well run and those that were there recommends going
next year. There were pirates at the event, but our own Baron and Baroness
were not robbed while other landed coronets were. Asked for the reason they
among all were not robbed His Excellency noted "Clean living.". The Baronial
champions and being in range of archery support may have helped as well.
Lots of archery happened. The feast was good. Children's activities were
good. Gregor won the novice tourney and Sir Ranthlfr won the boat battle.
Congrats to both!

Monthly practice tourney -  At practice on Sunday the April make up tourney
was held with Sir Dirk coming out victorious.

Garb workshop -  Held last Saturday, all reports that is that it was fun.

Upcoming Baronial Events and Demos

Celtic Festival (July 14th) - HE Tairdelbach has confirmed with the park
that everything should be the same this year.

Grand Tourney (Nov 3rd)  - Website is updated and we have two very cool
prized graciously and generously donated by Godaeth and Aeffe an extant 12th
century penny for the armored champion and a later period extant penny for
the rapier winner. A huge thank you to both of them for such a cool prize
and their generosity. 

Old Business

New officer submission (Archery) for the Barony - Godaeth was confirmed as
the new the Baronial Group Archery Marshal (in Training). Congratulations
and thanks from all of us to her for taking on this roll and so
enthusiastically supporting archery in our Barony.

Baronial Ballista plans - (meeting minutes reminder/placeholder only)

Plans ordered. 

Fixing loaner leg armor proposal - (meeting minutes reminder/placeholder
only)

No new update. Sir Gregoire is still working on the loaner gear. 

Tithing to the Kingdom - (meeting minutes reminder/placeholder only)

Check was cut and it should be presented this weekend at Crown for $300 to
their Highness's travel fund.

New Business

New SCA brochures - Genoveva had new SCA brochures for people to review. All
agreed that they look great. However, the very cool of the new group
Baronial photo was included but there was some question about being able to
use the photo on the flyer based on photography policies. Some discussion
ensued, but no one at the meeting could state definitively what the policy
is. So Genoveva will ask the publications officer directly and get a
definitive answer.

Possible new Demo - We have been requested by a senior center to see if we
would be willing to do a "educational and entertainment" demo for their
seniors on one of their cultural arts days. The demo would be on a Tuesday
morning at 10:30 AM. It sounded like that they hold the cultural arts days
on Tuesdays regularly as there was no specific date given. Also considering
Their Excellencies recent e-mail on demos and recruitment, we would only
want to do this if we can properly staff and support this. Genoveva should
be putting out an e-mail to the group soon to see if anyone would be able to
help during this workday timeslot as well as contacting the senior center to
see if there is more details on the dates. If you are available during this
time and are interested in helping, please let Genoveva know.

Announcements

NO Baronial Business meeting on May 28th (Memorial Day) - Due to the
holiday, we have canceled the Baronial meeting on this date. 

Next Monthly Tourney (June 3rd) - The next monthly tourney will be held on
June 3rd (this would be the makeup for May's tourney). This is also a Kill &
Grill so please come, hang out and have fun!

Tournament Heraldry Classes - Ermenrich is planning on putting on some
classes to teach how to do tournament heraldry (vocal) in preparation for
Grand Tourney. He is looking at the next Kill & Grill as well as other
opportunities. If interested in learning more about vocal heraldry for
tournaments, please let him know.

Ermenrich stole his wife's pie.or at least had it moved slightly to her left
to where he was sitting.

Officer Repots (normally done on 4th Tuesday of each month, but since there
is no meeting next week (May 28th) we are doing them a week early)

Exchequer (Vincent) - Will not be at meetings for next couple of months but
will make sure any checks/finances are taken care of. Also first quarter's
reports are filed. We have around $5300 in our accounts.

Webminister (Aaron) -  Ladies Godaeth and Aeffe have been working on the
Archery section. There is planned maintenance for the server on the 24th
which will impact both the web site and the mailing lists. Hopefully
downtime should be minimal but if not I will communicate updates via the
Facebook group. Messages sent to @cynnabar.org addresses during the
maintenance window will not be lost.

Fencing Marshal (Arnold) - No report.

MoAS (Arin) - Continuing to work on setting up the workshops. She has the
clay in. Also Kingdom A&S is this week as well.

Chatelaine (Genoveva) - Would like to encourage everyone to read the letter
from Their Excellencies on demos and recruitment. The Facebook URL is
updated so it reads much better. There have been new people contacting her
about the SCA. When asked if she knows how they are hearing about us, the
question is being asked and a lot of them is thru friends, but also thru
friends on Facebook where they see posts about their friends in the SCA and
their activities and are interested.

Chronicler (Ermenrich) - Starting on the next issue of the Citadel. Please
submit stuff, no matter how small. June 15th is the cutoff date (though if
you know you are going to be a little late, let Ermenrich know so he can
plan space in the issue). 

Herald (Simcha) - No report.

Knight Marshal (Gregoire) - Practices are going on. Regular Sunday practice
and melee practices on Wednesday evenings. 

Archery Marshal (Godaeth) - There have been no weather cancellations so far
this season. People are showing up to both practices and events to shoot.
Will be looking into purchasing a first aid kit for the office and will
bring a proposal to a meeting soon.

Seneschal (Finn) - Seneschal 1st trimester report is in on time. No meeting
next week due to holiday. Next meeting will be June 11th.

Baron and Baroness (Hanna and Tairdelbach) - Kill & Grill on June 3rd with
both armored and rapier tournaments. They reviewed the recruitment e-mail
they sent to the list. Please read and know that both Their Excellencies and
Genoveva want to encourage everyone to understand that recruitment for the
SCA can happen all the time. Their Majesties travel schedule is out so
please put in your award recommendations with what events you think the
deserving individual will be at.  They have sworn fealty to the new Crown.
Their report have been filed. Which combined means.we are still a Barony.
