[Cynnabar] BoC Meeting Minutes for 10/8/12 meeting

I'm solidly in my trend now with putting out the previous meeting minutes
(and then agenda) the last night before the next meeting is due. At some
point, this may even become a rut. But for now, I'll stay trendy.

 

 

Event and Demo Reports

 

Coronation of Dag and AnneMarie (Sept. 29th)  - Great weather. Good site.
Good job cleaning up and the people who run the site said we can come back.
Some numbers: We had 322 adults (22 non-members) and 11 children. Estimated
profit is $500.25. Kingdom's 50% ($250.13). Lunch tavern profit $412 (lunch
taverns are apparently no longer considered event income but are now
fundraisers (we will let people know more as we have more info on how/why
this is). There was a question as to of the lunch tavern profits as there
was a question as to if they were donated directly to Kingdom at the site
(when they should not have been). As none of the key players involved in the
transaction was at the meeting, Finn will follow up with everyone to
determine exactly what happened (and remove any unnecessary speculation) and
report back findings and help correct any thing if needed. Please check out
the plethora of thank you e-mails for EVERYONES HELP in pulling this event
off! 

 

Red Dragon (Oct. 6th )  - Great weather. TONS of fighting. Excellent youth
activities. New Middle Marches Baron and Baroness were invested. 

 

Reign of Arrows (Oct. 6th )  - Cold and windy. About 20 archers showed up
with 6 from Cynnabar and our own Forrester Dillon won the tourney! 

 

Monthly Tourneys (Oct. 7th )  - Playing catch-up there were a few of the
monthly tourneys held at the last outdoor practice of the year. Midair and
Hjorleif each won an armored tourney (there were two held) and Morwid
(please forgive if this is spelled wrong) won the rapier tourney. 

 

 

Upcoming Baronial Events and Demos

 

Fiber Faire (Oct 13th)  -  Great classes lined up at a nice relaxing event
coming up. 

 

Grand Tourney (Nov 3rd)  - Staff meeting planned for the 10th. Cera cannot
do gate so Giovanna is taking over. Felix is also out for lunch tavern so
Arin is stepping in to take over as well. We are allowed to setup Friday
night so the more hands the better! Prizes still needed. We also have youth
boffer and rapier planned. And Ermenrich is planning vocal heraldry classes
soon as well to help prepare for the event.

 

Nicola's books holiday gift wrapping (Nov. 17th and Nov. 24th) - Check for
e-mails soon to schedule things online. 

 

Wassail (Dec. 8th)  - This was the 3rd discussion and approval for $400
budget line item for site fee ($375) and misc expenses ($25). This was
approved. The planned garage sale and silent auction should be going to help
out with repairing/replacing needed items for Cynnabar's Pennsic camp stuff.
Pot luck being planned (apparently as usual). There will be no site fee but
rather a hat with a  suggested donation instead to help off-set the costs.

New Business

 

St. Cecilia at the Tower Event proposal (May 18th, 2013 tentative) - Jadwiga
brought forth a new event proposal for the Barony to consider and looking
for support. This would be the return of the music oriented event St.
Cecilia at the Tower. Site would be St. Paul's with a total budget of $220
($120 for site rental (based on last year's numbers) and up to $100 for
printing costs. No site fee required but looking for suggested donations
($5) to cover costs. Last year there were 52 people. Lunch tavern and dinner
taverns are being considered but no one is lined up to run them yet.
However, both lunch and dinner taverns can be proposed and approved at a
later date and are not required to have this event. There is plenty of time
to line up lunch and/or dinner taverns later. This was considered the 1st
discussion of our 3 meeting discussion/approval process. 

  

Announcements

 

-          Kiln firing went fine. Everything  looking good. 

-          Jadwiga and Aaron are back from Europe.

-          Dance practices is back and was fun! Next one is schedule for the
first Wednesday in November and will be a costume/garb theme to go with
Halloween. 

-          Finn will be gone next week on a business trip and Mistress
Claire will be running the meeting.
