 20160711 Barony of Cynnabar Business Meeting Minutes

Center Room, Pierpont Commons.  Workshops 6:30 to 7:15. 10_ attendees

Meeting 7:30- 8:30. _14_ attendees.

*Workshop Topics:*  Tonight was: *Royalty Matters by Mistress
Giovanna. *

like to present a workshop.  All topics are of interest.

*July 18 - Trans/Intersex/Third Gender in Medieval Times with Draco.* This
is the second portion of a two-part class where we will define gender
diversity terms and explore sex and gender minorities in both modern and
historical perspectives. This portion will be a round table discussion of
the themes and ideas presented in the first portion where we discussed how
the inclusion of minority groups can help with recruitment and retention in
the society.

*July 25 - Project Hour with Lady Aeffe, Baronial MOAS.*  Come an hour
early and work on your portable projects! Finish up that last minute hand
sewing, scribal project, knitting, or other easy-to-travel things that you
just need to make time to complete.

Saline Road, Saline, MI. Ms. Giovanna Steward. Budget $1735. Breakeven 174.

Insurance certificate has been passed to Saline Schools.  A staff meeting
will be held July 18 after the Business meeting.

Seeking information from regional groups on how they have handled the
Contribution approach to paying for this site.

*Terpsichore at the Tower April 1, 2017 Lord Gavriil.* St Paul’s Church of
Christ, Saline MI. *B**udget $500* Breakeven: 50.

·         Aelfric had not heard we were looking for dates and costs from St
Paul’s Church.  He will see what he can find out for us.

*Old Business*

*Celtic Festival (Saturday July 9, 2016)* Saline, Michigan. Baron
Tairdelbach. Budget >$100 Expenditure $87.07

Tairdelbach reports: It went well.  Breezy but humid weather, after the
storm during set up Friday night. The A&S display was nice.  Our contact
for the Festival said that people liked the hands-on approach, and touching
things. Festival contributed $250 to the Barony.

Daye:  Pacing good for us.  The road work and the threatening weather
reduced overall attendance.  Got 10 email addresses, gave out 250 Social
Cards. 2 people plan to attend Arms practice. The Trailer had its first
outing, with Sir Adler picking it up and returning it to the barn Friday,
fetching it again on Saturday.

Archery: Kasha:  Archery Team worked very hard.  The snake line was great
for managing people, except they leaned on it and it was not set up for
that.  272 people signed the waiver.  The Hand Stamp was a genius idea.  It
made things flow.  Grey saw one person at least 3 times.

*Officer vacancies:*

Herald – 3rd of 3 meetings for approving Lord Eadraed, with Forester Grey
Oddson as his deputy.

Knight Marshal – Per THL Gregor: *deadline for applying for the position is
July 17th*. Contact him for more information.

·         Gregor says he has had no serious inquires in the last 2 weeks.

·         *Master Zygmunt* has applied to Gregor to be considered for the
post.  Wants to plan fun training with people

Chatelaine –

·         Applicant?  Some nibbles…

Minister of Youth –  No News

 * New Gloves for Rapier Practice and Training Lady Birke.$120  2nd of 3
Meetings.  *

·         6 pair gloves at $20/ pair. Maximum $120.  Purchase will be 2
small, 2 medium, and 3 large cuffed gloves.

·         No questions, no objections.

*Food & Supplies for Known World Baronial Champions Tourney at Pennsic.
Baron Ermenrich  $100.  2nd of 3 Meetings*

·         Ermenrich requests funds to feed combatants and the gallery at
the Champions Tourney Cynnabar will sponsor at Pennsic War.  This will be
“fighter food” plus tea or other light beverage and snacks for the gallery.

·         Lady Daeg will be the organizer.

*New Business* (includes items potentially requiring budget outlays)

*Wassail Site Fee:  $150 Kay 1st of 3 Meetings: *

·         Kay booked  the Site by phone on 7/7/16. The rental agreement is
in the Mail to the Fairground Coordinator. Return of signed contract was
requested.

·         Please approve expense so I can send the check and be reimbursed.

·         No Objections

*Cancel Meeting August 8, 2016.  Kay.  No Budget*, but seeking consensus. *1st
of 3 Meetings:*

·         My trusted and experienced advisors suggest that canceling the
meeting during Pennsic War Week is not without precedent. Is this
satisfactory to the meeting?  This will become a recurring announcement if
the Barony does not feel it needs 3 meetings to achieve consensus.

·         The meeting felt we did not need to raise this question again.

·         There will NOT be an August 8 meeting.

*Status check on approved budget items*

*Tower’s Foundation Medallions* –some will be done in time for Court at
Pennsic.

*Royal Travel Fund Donation*  Ermenrich *$500 *Aelfric has the check for
Kingdom.  COMPLETED.

Celtic Fest Transport.

*Congratulations *to all those who are on Champions Teams for War:  Birke,
Malachi, Jason, Hjorlief, Straum, Gregoire are known so far.

There will be Tournaments at Armored, Archery, and Rapier Practices this
Sunday, July 18.

Kasha and Ermenrich will be offering opportunities to act as their
retainers at Pennsic War.  Serving your Baron is a forgiving environment,
and good practice for serving Royalty.

*Pennsic planning:* Baronial Court theme is, “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.”

·         -*Monday evening, August 8*: Chivalric round tables.

·         -*Tuesday evening*, *August 9*: gambling and gaming.  With a
bardic performance.

·         -*Wednesday, August 10*: KW Baronial Armored Champions Tournament
hosted by Cynnabar; Camp potluck; Baronial Court.

·         -*Friday evening, August 12:* Eat it, Drink it, Burn it night,
followed by games. Sir Gregoire will organize activities.

*Fall Recruitment Discussion: *

What is best to do based on recent years turnout and results? Which Student
Organization events should we staff?  One, All None?

Much discussion of tactics and strategy.  We may have a new direction for
our efforts.  Using existing student organization resources like bus
advertising might help us reach more students. We want to find students who
will

Thanks to everyone who came and brainstormed.  There are no notes on my
observations because I was moderating.  Do speak to those who were present.

Kay sent a request to Hattie to book a room for an evening, after
consulting Daeg. She has reserved Anderson Rooms for Sunday Sept 18.  We
can cancel if need be.

·         We really want a Monday. Kay has messaged Hattie and Daeg.
