July 17, 2017  Barony of Cynnabar Business Meeting Notes

Workshop at 6:30:  12 attendees

Meeting 7:30- 8:30: 19 attendees.

*Workshop Topic:** Premeeting workshop: Cooking at War: Low-stress, easy
meal ideas for camping, with Baroness Hannah* *Cooking meals in camp can
save money and be convenient for you and your family. Learn about making
meal plans, preparation, and packing tips for low-stress camp cooking. Come
share your own ideas about cooking in camp. We will welcome round-table
discussion on how you make your Pennsic cooking experience easy.* Business
Meeting began at 7:30p.m.

*Upcoming Baronial Events and Demos*

*Cook’s Symposium October 13, 14 & 15, 2017 *St Paul’s Church of Christ,
Saline MI. *Baroness Hannah, Steward. Budget $525; breakeven 66 attendees*

THL Ceara has placed a form on Facebook in both the Barony page and the
Crash and Pool page.  One person has contacted her so far.  If you can
offer overnight space to Cooks’ Symposium attendees contact Ceara.

·         Hotel block booked, comfort inn and suites, ten rooms

·         Sunday activity – Brewery Becker confirmed!  Behind the scenes
brewery tour.  Historic beers and other cool stuff!  They are excited about
us coming.  Tour starts at noon

*Grand Day of Tournaments- Nov 4, 2017 *Liberty School, Saline MI.*
Mistress Genoveva Steward. Budget $2260; breakeven 174 (may
change)            *

·         *Site is reserved. *Deposit should go to the school in July (or
September?)

*Old Business*

*Celtic Fest Demo Saturday July 15, 2017 Demo *

309 people through thrown weapons!  Demo was a success!  We were paid our
traditional $250.  Even if numbers were light, we still got more people
through the line than last year.

*Cynnabar Ruby Jubilee*: Need event proposal.  Date has been submitted to
the calendar deputy.

                Preliminary website up, Pennsic independent advertisement
planned.

*Officer vacancies to be filled:*

1.       Exchequer – Lady Ilse has informed us of her intent to step down
as exchequer.  Mistress Jadwiga has applied – meeting 3 of 3. APPROVED

Minister of Youth– Still seeking a Minister of Youth

*New Business* (includes items potentially requiring budget outlays)

Baroness Kasha requests $100 for food at the baronial champion’s tournament
at Pennsic.  Fighter food, pretty and fun finger foods / fancy drinks for
the gallery. Second of three meetings.

Baroness Hannah – Renaude de Lunay to run a lunch tavern at cook’s
symposium $425.  Sideboard style, based on the themes of bars, inns, and
taverns with a focus on street food of the middle ages.  $4 at the gate,
plan to feed 100 – 125 people.  Second of three meetings.

Baron Tairdelbach - Getting the trailer to and from Celtic fest was
challenging this year, since our normal trailer haulers were not available
for all or some of the event.  Proper electrical hookup and hitch were not
available, had to borrow / purchase some equipment.  $50 proposal 2” ball
hitch.   First of three meetings.

Excel for Mistress Jadwiga (exchequer) licensed to the Barony - $120.

*Status check on approved budget items*

*Dame Ursula, Herald. $100 ($36 disbursed 11/21/16, $32 disbursed 2/20/17,
$16 disbursed 7/10/17) $26 remains to be spent. *Lord Eadraed reported that
the registration process is continuing.

*Axe heads / handles from Celtic Fest. $50 – No axes were damaged, no money
spent.*

*Money for fighter food $100 – Tairdelbach has a receipt*

*Announcements** & Group Discussion*

*Announcement/Reminder:  Wassail & 2018 events:  *It's time to start
thinking about Wassail!  We need to reserve the site at Chelsea if we want
it.  We need a date and a reservation.  Also Terpsichore and St. Cecilia
need to be placed on the calendar.  Wassail is a good event to try out
being an event steward.

Not going to Pennsic?  There will be a Pennsic pity party in the
barony!  Want to play board games or do other social things?  Contact
Alana.

Prep for Pennsic!  Their excellencies seriously need help with food
for the baronial champions tourney.
