[Cynnabar] Weekly meeting minutes for 04/16/12 meeting

Here is the meeting minutes from the 4/16/12 meeting. 19-20 people were in
attendance.

Event and Demo Reports:

 

Terpsichore - Great event! Of the 14 A&S entries 9 were from Cynnabar
members! Gregoire's vigil was very nice. Lots of musicians. 

Attendance: 153 total

          Full Paid Admission: 100 (83 members/17 non members)

          Instructors: 24 

          A&S Judges: 13 

          Musicians: 16 

Estimated Profit: $738.62

Giovanna donated the prizes for Iron Peeps. Thanks!

 

Cleftlands Baronial Investiture - Uneventful and no drama.

 

Upcoming Baronial Events and Demos

 

Spring Revel (April 29th) - Champions Tourney. Pavilion with alcohol permit
is set. Potluck grill and kill. Please wear your garb for the group photo

 

St. Ceclia at the Tower (May 12th) - Another track of classes has been
added. It's a lecture track for those interested in music but are not
(currently) musicians. The classes have been figured out. The non-SCA
musicians are confirmed that they are coming as well. Lunch is still under
consideration (ordering in pizza or subs).

 

Celtic Festival (July 14th) - Nothing new.

 

Grand Tourney (Nov 3rd)  - Have contracts and were signed tonight. Site
deposit funds were also done. Johannes has a full staff and is planning a
site visit in early May.

 

 

Old Business

 

Northwoods event proposal: "Ale to the Victors" - (for early October)

Our northerly neighbors are looking to have an opponent for a fun event full
of competitions (A&S, armored, rapier and more) including a "medieval
tailgate" (think of this like a big football game). No date is set yet. More
details to come soon.

 

Baronial Ballista plans - (meeting minutes reminder/placeholder only)

Just waiting for confirmation plans are in.

 

Fixing loaner leg armor proposal - (meeting minutes reminder/placeholder
only)

Just waiting for confirmation armor is in.

 

Tithing to the Kingdom - (meeting minutes reminder/placeholder only)

The previously group-approved amount of $300 to their Highness's travel fund
will be presented at Crown in Kentucky in May. This line item will remain as
a meeting note but not brought up during the meeting proper unless someone
has a question/comment on it. This is just a reminder until we are able to
present this in May.

 

New Business

 

Under consideration: Duke Dag's Dangerously Debauched Dunk Tank of Doom. 

 

There was no mention of pie during the meeting, even though Midair was in
attendance and did have some.

 

Announcements:

 

Note from our Exchequer - If you are an autocrat of an event, Kingdom now
expects the rough numbers (the performa) and non-member surcharges in to
kingdom within 15 days of the end of the event..

 

Our new Chatelaine Genoveva has the new SCA social business cards that are
available for everyone so they can have some to pass out to people
potentially interested in the SCA. They are very nice.

 

Mistress Claire and Halima are looking at doing Fiber Fair again at some
point. No dates set but stay tuned for more info.

 

THL Arina is planning on some Viking or Norse themed workshops soon. Please
let her know if you are interested in either one. Look for some e-mails to
the group list for more details. 

 

Our Seneschal notes that next meeting is on 23rd and that Baronial Officer
reports are due. As this is a "5-Monday" month, there is no business meeting
on the 30th or on May 7th.
